I heard a quote a while back that stuck with me. “Ordinary people have big TV’s, successful people have big libraries.” But why are books the hidden secret to success? In the Old Testament, God told King Solomon to choose any one thing he wanted. If he asked, God would grant it to him. He could have asked for money, power, entertainment, a long life. But what he asked for was greater than any of these. He asked for wisdom. The DIKW hierarchy tells us that data, when organized, is information. Information consumed becomes knowledge. Knowledge internalized becomes wisdom. What all that nerdy talks mean is that reading books to acquire knowledge will give you the gift of King Solomon – great wisdom. But having wisdom isn’t quit enough to create success. If you lock all of that wisdom behind an iron gate, you will gain nothing. Putting your wisdom into action is true power. Success comes from action, not contemplation. Committed to your success, Ernie “The Book Worm” Vargas | The Probate Fox |
