How Did You Get Out of Bed this Morning?

Well, Ernie Jr. and I have arrived here at the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and we’re getting ready to embark on this 80-mile epic journey as father and son.

Like I said before, it’s not just the miles, it’s also the elevation gains/losses and hiking with a 50-pound pack on my back (I’m not sure if it’s actual weight, but it sure feels like I’m lugging a medium size child on my back!)
When I got up this morning, I just wanted to stay in bed. I knew that abandoning the comfort of my bed would result in a week and a half of pain and suffering.

During my months of physical training for this event, I’ve also worked on my “mental game” by creating concrete visual images of my goals for this adventure.

Knowing the rewards that lie beyond the pain and suffering is what motivated me to drag my old butt out of bed at 5am this morning.

My question for you is what are your goals? What concrete, tangible successes do you want to achieve over the next month, quarter, and year?

It’s easy for you and me to say we want to achieve something. It’s altogether another thing to take that first step to actually start the journey.

Talking with past students over the past 20 years, I’ve realized that the actual knowledge I give them is only part of what I provide. Keeping them accountable for their success and helping them through frequent bouts of vicious self-doubt.

Why?

Because the greatest wealth transfer in American history is about to take place. In the next two decades, over 30 trillion dollars of inherited wealth will be transferred from one generation to the next with a ton of it tied up in probate.

Committed to your success,
Ernie “Chasing My Goals” Vargas | The Probate Fox
