This past Wednesday I shared the sad news that Steve Sax’s son had died over the weekend in a military exercise.

I hope you took Steve’s advice and gave your loved ones an extra hug yesterday.
Like I said, Steve was a childhood hero of mine.

Meeting him a couple of years ago really was an amazing experience. The funny thing was that I didn’t meet him at a sporting-related event or book signing. He was the keynote speaker at a very high-level marketing conference I was attending.

So why would a baseball player be at a high-level marketing event?

The guys running this event and those attending do not mess around. They didn’t bring him on stage just because he was a star athlete.

Steve is a legend and future Hall of Famer because of the discipline that he displayed in spite of the barriers that tried to thwart his success.

We all run into roadblocks. Obstacles that try to derail us from achieving our goals and finding our true success. But it’s our vision and discipline that will help us either steam through those obstacles, or find a way around them. And that’s why Steve’s story is so powerful.

Harness The Power Of POSITIVITY

There is no such thing as overnight success. I laugh every time I see the “gurus” on facebook in their (rented) fancy cars or getting on their (rented) private jets. I know the truth.

Sure there are those “millionaire in a minute” stories. And they are amazing stories. But they are an anomaly. Happy accidents. Blips on the radar.

True sustainable success — at work, at home with your family, or on the ball field — is because of a habit and the positive attitude that keeps you going. It creates a natural and unstoppable inertia.

But it all starts with that person staring back at you in the mirror! Everyone has the tools within to impart positive change. Ultimately, success is a choice, a deliberate and methodical choice made every single day. It all starts with a SHIFT in the way you view your world.

Add Steve’s book SHIFT to your reading list. If you don’t have a reading list, now’s a great time to start and it’s a great book to start with.

Committed to your success,
