| Last weekend one of the greatest upsets in all of sports history happened. And I didn’t think much of it until I saw an Instagram video from Sylvester Stallone about the race and the deeper meaning he found in that race. The horse Rich Strike was added to the race as an afterthought. I mean here you have a $30,000 horse competing against horses that people have spent upwards of 30 million dollars on. Vegas gave the horse 80 to 1 odds. If you’re not the betting type, that means it wasn’t even an underdog. It was almost a guaranteed loser. But fate had other plans. Rich Strike won the race. Stallone said this was a true Rocky story. The exterior belies what’s inside. Every self-made billionaire started out as the underdog. But they didn’t let that stop them from achieving what seemed impossible. I was the least likely to succeed. When I went to my first real estate seminar I was a high school dropout, introvert, timid, scared kid. A couple of years before that, I had an accident that left me in a coma and literally bankrupt. I had no money to my name and no credit. As I walk into that seminar, I felt like everyone was staring at me. They were all dressed better than me. They spoke better than me. They didn’t have to embarrassingly pay the 99 bucks for the seminar with a bag of nickels, dimes, and quarters. They seemingly all had every reason to succeed more than me. But you never know what beats inside the heart of a man, regardless of what his exterior tells you. I had a fire burning inside of me. A deep desire to succeed absolutely consumed me. A short while later I flipped my first property and took home a profit of over $158,000. Then I purchased another one and another one and they kept rolling in. Robert Allen who ran the seminar took notice and ran a whole television segment on me and the success that I was having. I created my own version of the Kentucky Derby underdog. I became the Rocky Balboa of real estate. I believe everybody has what it takes but it really starts with your desire to win and not allowing anything to get in your way.
