Are You a 4 Pound Goldfish?

I read a news article today from The Guardian that I had to read twice because I just couldn’t believe it.

Apparently, homeowners in Minnesota who don’t want their pet goldfish anymore and can’t bring themselves to flushing it down the toilet are releasing them into the wild in local lakes and streams.

Goldfish are technically an invasive species in these lakes and rivers and are causing concern for local wildlife officials. The biggest goldfish caught so far was over a foot long and weighed 4 pounds 3 ounces! Yikes!

What I wanted to know was why a normal-sized tiny goldfish would get to be so big in these lakes and streams.

It turns out that the small size of the fishbowl or aquarium is what keeps a goldfish small. When they are released into the vast open space of local rivers and lakes, they can reach their full size potential.

So what does this crazy story have to do with real estate?

We are all constrained by what we think is possible. But it goes way beyond what we believe. We are also constrained by what we surround ourselves with and how we think.

Real, massive growth will only happen when you stretch beyond your comfort zone.

But it’s up to you to stretch your imagination and belief system of what you think is actually possible.

It’s up to you to surround yourself with peers and mentors who will allow you to think big and grow fast.

In real estate, there is so much opportunity, but the rewards are only experienced by the few who make the bold decision to put themselves in a position where they can push beyond the ordinary and achieve the extraordinary.

It can happen to you, but it won’t happen on accident. Success is a choice that is made by you, and you alone.

Committed to your success,
