| Lately, I’ve been posting most of my emails on a bunch of different social media like Facebook. Now don’t stop opening my emails – because you’ll likely miss some golden nuggets because Facebook is just plain old dumb. Censorship is real in America and it happened last week to yours truly. Yup, I’m in Facebook jail and still have 24 days of hard time to serve. Apparently, Facebook didn’t like me talking about my experience with the Bloods and Crips here in Los Angeles. Or maybe they just don’t like my unhealthy love of pancakes? Either way, they took down my post and put me in Facebook jail for it. But the FB nazis can’t touch me here. Emails get through most of the time. But at the rate we’re going, I’m guessing that eventually even emails will get censored. You know where else they can’t censor you at all? The good old U.S. mail. My mentor, Dan Kennedy, used to say that the loneliest (and most dangerous) number in business is ONE. If you’re relying on one of anything, you could end up in a heap of trouble when they take that one thing away from you or when that one thing stops working. Netflix used to be a dvd rent by mail video service. They saw that one was a dangerous number so they added streaming. What does the future hold for them? It will be interesting to see because they used to be the ONE streaming service, but now there is a flood of competition. Are you only using direct mail to reach out to your leads? You should probably add cold calling and/or door knocking to your funnel. Is the government going to take the mail away? Probably not, but never get stuck depending on just one of anything.
