I Snagged A Piece Of Los Angeles History

Do you know what a Thomas Guide is? If you were born in the last 25 to 30 years you probably have no idea what I’m talking about right now.

Before the invention of the iPhone, people didn’t have google maps that told them where to go. Regular maps have been around pretty much forever. But traversing modern metropolitan areas can be a bit tricky, even with a regular map.

So back in 1915, three Thomas brothers decided to create city guides and grew a publishing business that offered spiral bound guides to just about every major city. And their first city map of Los Angeles came out in 1946.

So what does this have to do with probate?

This week, my team picked up a probate property along with all of the contents of the estate included in the purchase. It’s a very common strategy I like to teach my Probate Fox family to do whenever possible.

I found an old Los Angeles Thomas Guide in the house so I took it home with me. It’s a piece of nostalgia, a fun historical artifact from my childhood, that I can share with my kids.

Are we going to make a hefty profit on this property? You betcha. But another bonus of working probate is being able to find fun trinkets and often high value contents inside the house as well.

To your success,
