Steve’s Gonna Make Me A Fortune

A lot of people try to complicate real estate. There are all kinds of tactics and strategies gurus are trying to sell to the masses. But at its core, it’s really all about relationships.

Whether you are prospecting leads, looking for capital, working with contractors, or listing houses, being excellent at talking with others will put you miles ahead of your competition.

I’m in Tampa this week. One of my favorite things about traveling is talking with the locals. And some of the best locals to talk to are Uber drivers.

My Uber chauffeur, Steve, who picked me up from the airport told me there’s a parking lot not too far from the airport where 250 drivers are always waiting to pick up riders. It’s a competitive job and the pay proves it. Steve told me that of the $25 I paid for my ride, he only gets a $4 cut.

He said a lot of drivers work 14 to 16 hours a day to try and make ends meet. As we were talking, his next ride popped up on his phone. It was a 30 minute trip so he could get paid $5.52. He made more money with my $10 tip than with the fare.

On my way out of the car, Steve asked me if I knew of any other work or side gigs he could get into. I could tell the guy was HUNGRY for more.

I could tell he was good at talking so I asked him if he would be interested in calling sellers. His eyes lit up. He gave me his number and I’ll be following up with Steve early next week.

I think I might have just found a goldmine of talent for outbound calling! You never know when opportunity will fall into your lap. Keep your eyes open and your head on a swivel because it is everywhere!

To your success,
