Have you ever cold called a personal representative and they came off a bit guarded or even rude? Fraud is an enormous problem nowadays so it makes sense why they might be a bit guarded during your first call. It’s not much of a surprise that the FTC reported consumers losing a total of just under 8.8 billion in 2022 to fraud and scams (30% higher than 2021). Unfortunately, a lot of the people getting scammed are from the older generation. As a prime target of fraud, older folks have understandably become a bit guarded on the phone. The sad truth is there are hoards of unscrupulous real estate professionals scheming to hustle them out of their property. During a first phone call, how are they supposed to know that you’re the real deal and not like everyone else looking to swoop in and take their property from right under their nose? Don’t be offended if a petitioner picks up the phone and comes off a bit snappish. Remember the end goal. We are here to help these people with compassion and patience.
