Yesterday I met up with my local mastermind in Pasadena, California and as usual we collaborated, reviewed, and planned for each other’s success and business growth.
I both run and belong to a few masterminds and this group is one that is very close to my heart. This mastermind group is led by Craig, and one year ago we celebrated our ten year anniversary. I can actually say that we are a family. I share this with you because today I was reminded of how important it is to have a like-minded support group in your corner. As “entrepreneurs” we are different and quite frankly, most people don’t get us, or our form of creativity, vision, and hustle.
Anyways, yesterday someone in our group was sharing and discovered a loose end in the their business and because this particular person is such a go-getter, the hunt was on to fix it. Of course, being that my friend is human, it was natural that there was a sense of discouragement and let down. Our group brain stormed and came together with some possible resolutions that our member will test out but more importantly, our friend had a place to vent and get moral support.
In fact, one of our members’ said something that was so powerful. It impacted me in that moment. Among other things, he said, ”If you can look up, you can get up.”
Now we’ve all experienced a disappointment at some point in our business.
My two questions to you are:
- How fast are you getting up?
- Do you have a like-minded support group or mastermind?
If you don’t have a group, I encourage you to find one.
Here is the full quote by Les Brown:
“If life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up. And if you get up, you can stand up. And if you stand up, you can fight for your dream once again. You have something special. You have greatness within you.”
